Ahead of its time

Sailloft had already integrated yacht sail technology in their products in 1998 and was then also the first company  to build with adhesives in their custom made sails.

Even at that time our seams on our laminate sails didn’t need to be stitched. The reinforcements were entirely laminated to the sail. A method that can now be found in the Bionic Technology.
The result was a sail with an enormous performance range and a drastically reduced wet weight.

Today´s technology has been dramatically perfected.  With the method described above , standard cloth and x-ply was used. It is now possible for every part in the sail to have a tailored laminate to reinforce the cloth, - called membranes.
These high tech sails made from membranes are used in peak performance regatta sails as on yachts 
sailing the Admiral's Cup and America's Cup.
For the first time in the windsurf industry this fantastic technology is being integrated. The first sail of its kind - Sailloft BIONIC.

This improvement enables us to drastically reduce the weight. The radial Aramid(Twaron®) enforcements now take the load within the sail rather than the actual cloth. This is the only way the foil can be thinner and therefore lighter without compromising the durability.
Reinforcements that were necessary when using conventional methods have become next to needless with the use of the Bionic Technology.
