How does the RDM mast change the performance of the sail?
The sail will not feel so hard and responsive. An RDM mast does not fill the mast sleeve as a regular size mast does and therefore the sleeve acts as part of the sail. It increases the profile and planning power. At the same time the sail will loose profile if less power is required because the battens can sneak past the mast and move forward. This also increases maneuverability. With a skinny mast you get two birds with one stone.
